Please note that the "Dotty Harper Appel Memorial Mini-Marathon/Walk" will be held on Saturday, July 7th with a start time of 8:00 a.m. at Greenway Avenue Stadium. This 2.62 mile running event or one mile walk will be held in conjunction with the Fort Hill High School 75th Anniversary celebration that will be held on the same day.
When initially making the decision to schedule this event, I realized there was a QSC sponsored event on the same day. I consulted with the QCS and was told it would be acceptable to hold this event because we would be drawing from a different running crowd. Due to the QCS committed to the "Independence 5k" in Keyser on that day, the mini-marathon is not being co-sponsored or timed by the QCS. However, Dave Mapes from Somerset, PA, will be timing the event.
If you know of any new runners who want to run a shorter race on Saturday, July 7th, please encourage them to participate. While all are welcome to participate, I encourage veteran runners to continue to support the long-standing "Independence 5k" in Keyser.
For those interested in participating a registration form is attached.
