Okay, with yesterday's snowfall, the college was closed and church was canceled. I had no other commitments except for running. But, I've never run in the snow before, as I've always thought it would just be too unbearably cold. However, I have a team counting on my miles(its a competition at work), so I was a man with a mission. I dressed so as I would not get frostbite(anywhere, thanks to your all's advice), I strapped on my "snow treads" onto my running shoes, and set off. A little cold walking from my apartment to the towpath, but once I started running, no problem. It was a little more challenging trudging through the snow, but I was enjoying it...until I got two miles in. Then I had this horrible pain in my heels. I tried to shake it off, but it got worse. Eventually, I removed my shoe to find the worst blister's I've ever had. Since I started running, I've had plenty of blisters, a sprained foot, etc., but I always ran through it. I turned around and hobbled out, looking like a dork I'm sure. Later that evening, I went to walmart and bought some xlarge bandages and something called "blister block". Now, after my over dramatized story, I have three questions. 1. Does anyone else have more trouble with blisters when running in the snow, and if so, why? 2. What is your advice for preventing them? 3. Any tips on "treating" them so I can run anyway. Its a beautiful day, I'd hate to waste it. Many thanks.
