ROMNEY, W.Va. — The first Hampshire County 5K Race and 2-Mile Fun Walk will be held Saturday, June 14, with proceeds benefiting the Relay For Life of Hampshire County. The race/walk course will start and finish at the Hampshire Wellness and Fitness Center of Romney. Registration the day of the race/walk will be from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m., with the event beginning at 9 a.m. The Queen City Striders, a running organization based in Cumberland, will provide electronic timing and scoring. The entry fee is $15, but $20 if the entry is postmarked after June 1. A fee of $10 will be charged for cancer survivors and $15 if the entry is postmarked after June 1. Donations and volunteers are needed, and door prizes will be drawn after the race/walk. Refreshments and beverages will be available for everyone throughout the event. To pre-register, fill out an application and send it to HC 63, Box 2520, Romney, W.Va., 26757, c/o Robert Hawk, senior race director.
