By connecting the two, Runner’s World broke new airline business with a multiplatform deal for JetBlue Airways. The Rodale title launched a Web site called welcomerunners.com where runners can find training resources hosted by Runner’s World expert Bart Yasso, and book flights. The campaign also includes ads in print, quarterly sweepstakes, and sponsorships of weekend racing seminars at major marathons. “There’s a resurgence in people who want to experience places in their running,” explained Andy Hersam, vp, publishing director, Runner’s World. Runner’s World has stood out this year when most enthusiast titles’ ad pages have been on the decline. Through May, pages rose 8.9 percent to 309, versus a 10.6 percent decline for the category, per Mediaweek Monitor. In September, the magazine will overhaul its look for the first time since 2004, with a new logo, fonts and color palette.
