Track workout at Allegany College at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, rain or shine. The more the merrier, regardless of individual pace or training regimen.

Would have been a beautiful morning for a run - too bad I couldn't even get out of bed for the treadmill this mornng. Had to do it at lunch.

Matt and I ended up doing a pretty short but solid workout: 4 by 800m with 400m jog recovery. I hit the 800s in 2:56, 2:58, 2:59, 2:57. 2 miles w/u and c/d. My goal going in was between 3:00 and 3:05. The rest of the week is fairly easy until Chambersburg Saturday...
I will never run on the Allegany College track again, though. It's awful hard on the legs. That was the 1st and last time. Fort Hill, FSU or other places ... but not AC.

That is a pretty good workout, Kevin. I agree with you about AC's track. It has always been a mess and it is not the most pleasant to run on. Fort Hill's track isn't much better though. It is softer, but it really needs resurfaced - there are some places that hold water and it is just worn. It is still a great place to workout - just not a great place to hold a track meet.

I prefer Allegany, you're road racing so why not do workouts on blacktop? The short track also makes it real fun.

True, Allegany is good enough for me - just being short makes it hard to figure things out.

Welcome to my world. For future reference, I actually have a diagram somewhere if you want a copy. It's worth a laugh anyway. Also, if AC's track is hard on your legs, you aren't going to like Allegany's any better.

ALCO isn't too bad as long as you stick to the standard 200m-400m-800m-1200m-1600m interval distances, but once you get to the fancy 1000's or something else and it starts getting tough to figure out. I'll tell you one thing though, you do a season's worth of workouts on that track and when you race on a fast and big track and it's like luxury.

ALCO's track was always such a treat. I used to know the starts of the common distances like Justin stated.
