hello to all:
i will making a brief sojourn to frostburg for a few days before finals to see my girlfriend and catch my breath- i will be in on friday afternoon and will leave probably monday morning
so that means i get saturday morning and sunday morning to run with my chums- lets see if we can get a big group going
i propose morning runs like always, but i do not know what the fathers in our group have to do with regards to floor hockey and other things- i can do anytime pretty much on saturday, and would prefer 7:30 or so on sunday
tell a friend and let's a nice group out to enjoy a good run in the (finally) warm weather- i think i will probably have 8 on saturday and 10 on sunday, but i am not positive at the moment....i will let you know when i find out

Anytime on Saturday will work for me. 7:30 on Sunday sounds good as well.

Sunday at 7:30 sounds good. Dennis mentioned going 15 to 16 on Sunday.
Friday after work I'm heading down the trail to Cumberland. I'll leave from FSU at 5 so I'll hit the Depot at 5:07. Any are welcome to join in.
Only 355 days left to train for the 2008 Boston Marathon.

I hope to get a run in with you guys this weekend. Getting my knee checked out today, I'm still running but it's more of a hobble than run. Hope to have some miracle healing by the weekend. I can go 7:30 Saturday or Sunday. Hope to see everyone out.

Let's set up something for Saturday. Dan has to go 8 and that is fine with me. I thought a good loop to get 8 in would be Christie Road. How about let's meet at 7:30 at Allegany College. If anybody can't make it or wants to run somewhere else, let me know.

Once again I apologize for another no show. I was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in my left knee on Friday and told not to run for three weeks to see if it would heal. I asked if I could train through to get me to Apple Blossom this Saturday and was given the o.k. Unfortunately walking has been a struggle, so as for now running is out of the question. I can tell you you one thing-crosstraining stinks. I'm already bored with the elliptical, bike and all the other forms of crosstraining. I hope I can get this thing fixed and get back on the roads soon.

That is a bummer, Dennis. It's so hard to listen to what the doctor tells you. Your mind is always still convinced that you can run through it, but you know that you just have to be patient and let it all work itself out. Good luck with the road to recovery!

Dennis: the meniscus (http://www.orthoassociates.com/meniscus.htm) will heal quickly. It’s the fluid and irritation that you will notice for a couple of weeks. I have had several “micro-fine” meniscal tears (http://www.arthroscopy.com/sp05005.htm). All have healed without surgery. The tears and plantar faciitis are what ended my basketball career. That is why we run in a straight line and avoid pivoting. Hope you heal soon. It was hard holding back the youth on Sunday.

As long as the tear is on the outer 1/3, it should heal without surgical intervention, but may take some time. The outer third is vascularized (has blood flow going to it), allowing it to receive nutrients needed for healing. Just make sure to take it easy on it and let it heal. If you try to stress it too early, the tear could worsen and either go into the inner 2/3 or flap over, both options painful and more likely to need surgery. Just some FYI from the books I've read. Hope it heals quickly for you Dennis.
