Missed you on the long run, Dennis. I hope that you feel better and that your sickness is not self-inflicted (eating too much cake and ice cream and going swimming within 30 minutes - as at a birthday party).
Anyway, I ran 45 minutes and then ran over to Carpendale and back and then up the Rail/Trail with Woody. Was a good run - got 2:45 on my feet. Had about 15 minutes right around 2 hours where Woody needed to stretch his knee out so I did a nice little pick-up. Thanks for the help yesterday, Woody - enjoyed running with you!

I enjoyed running with you too. I went to the trainer today and they are not sure what is wrong with my knee but they think that maybe one of the tissues in my knee is folded over.

That sounds pretty painful - can't believe that you ran that long Sunday if that is the case. It just sounds....aargh!!! Did they give you any idea of treatment or recovery time?

Well they changed there diagnosis on my knee it turns out that they seem like I have I.T. band syndrome and a really tight hamstring so they put me on an agressive stretching program to stretch both my I.T. Band and my Hamstring

Woody,
That's a much better diagnosis than the previous. IT issues are pretty common in distance runners. Watch running on cambered roads in the same direction. The stretching will help tremendously. Sorry I missed you guys this weekend, Johnny said he enjoyed the Saturday run. Take Care.

heating before you run/stretch and icing afterwards wil help too. If there is acces for the trainer to do some pulsed ultrasound at the spot of pain (for the IT) , I'd ask for it. But make sure you get those stretches in. Once the pain goes down some, do some strengthening exercises for your hip abductors. A couple suggestions are putting on an ankle weight and doing some sidekicks. Another would be if you have any resistive bands or tubing and tying it into a loop. Bring it above your knees and do some sidestepping with it. Good luck and look me up when you're back for that tape.

Thanks for the advice. I have been heating and stretching before I run and then icing after. I have also been taking ibuprofin to help with the pain. I will ask them on Monday if they would give me ultrasound in order to seppd up the process. It is a weird pain though. It doesn;t hurt at all when I walk but after about 20-30 minutes of running it really starts to hurt. But when I am running hard I haven;t had it bother me yet either so i don't know what is going on. Anyway I will be in sometime Easter weekend so maybe some time that weekend we could meet up and i could get that tape and maybe you could take a quick look at me knee since you actually know what your are doing. haha

Hey Dennis, Checking to see if you recovered. I'm to go for 10 in the morning then 20 something sunday. I was thinking of running up to cash valley and back to canal place tomorrow morning. Soft surface training to protect my now over trained and beat up legs. All are welcome (That means you Mr. Mertz)

I'm good to go, just a 24 hour thing. I have to go early Saturday (floor hockey). Sunday I'll be there at 7:45.
